candida is ubiquitous in nature , I had been working on candida isolated from neonatal blood & oral cavity of cancer patient . I use to stock them on SDA but I also stocked them in small sterile bottles with Normal saline.say 2ml .well preserved in refrigerator . the survival was about 93% after 6 months when subcultured on SDA. however in saliva with lot of enzymes the survival will be less .Will try to find if an such data exist.
