I have a materials engineering with a little mathematics background. I want to use CFD to simulate the fluid behaviour in pipeline or on membranes surface which cause fouling or scaling. I know nothing about CFD and fluid mechanics. Would you please guide me more on this?
1- By watching online fluid mechanics and CFD lectures from youtube, will I be able to learn CFD?
2- How much should I know about the basic mathematical aspect of CFD? Or can I do the project by just playing with fluent or openfoam software?
3-Which online courses or books should I read?
4- Would 6 month be enough to learn?

you can learn about cfd over internet and its not need six month only one month is sufficient to learn about it.

5. Computational Techniques for Fluid Dynamics by Fletcher
For basic knowledge of CFD six month is sufficient but for coding and simulations you will have to spent more time.
Knowledge of Fluid Dynamics is a must. You need to be familar with the governing equations and the PDE types vs physics.
