On world Environment day always catchy slogans are given. These catchy words serve any purpose. For example, on global warming so much hue and cry is created world over, but most of most developed countries are producers of global warming gases. Iwant to seek suggestions from distinguished scientists world over.
There is an urgent need to create awareness among people to protect environment in the current situation and ban usage of plastic. Such slogan may fulfill this purpose up to some extent. India was the global host of 2018 World Environment Day which had taken place on June 5. With “Beat Plastic Pollution” as the theme for this year’s edition, the world had come together to combat single-use plastic pollution.
The purpose is to give the participants and/or target group a sense of focus on a specific area of the whole campaign. One thing at a time kind of a thing to avoid ambiguity

I think this may lead to "slogan fatigue". Ban single use plastic without saying what single use plastic is, becomes ban shopping bags, ban straws, ban coffee cups, ban balloons …. as seems to be the case in Western Australia. However, countries with high waste pollution should use what ever they can to prevent and control environmental damage.
