The most convinient solution from my point of view is to debug your routine with a compiler like Visual Studio. You have to take into account that the version is compatible with you ABAQUS version.

Your fortran compiler seams to be well recognized by Abaqus. But did you make a verification with the command abq614 verify -user_std?

For me your error is fortran one (bad command). To check this compile only your subroutine with fortran compiler without linking with abaqus.

Hi Hadi,

If you run your analysis in the Abaqus Command window, the problem where it comes from is written on the screen.

Open Abaqus Command window and write following line on the window

abaqus j=job.inp user=subroutine.for interactive

You should not use illegal licenses in your work. This is huge violation of laws.

Just for your information and consideration Sir,

Polito has lisence for Fortran and Abaqus both and this was a kind of incompatibility of them.

Hi Hadi, 

I am not using Abaqus at the moment, but I remember that when I was doing my Ph.D. I included some PRINT statements in my code. This writes the output in the .log file, as Ehsan mentioned. 

Anyway, Ehsan suggested to use Visual Studio, so if you have access to that software you can try that option, it seems a more convenient way to go.

           How did you solve your problem? I'm kinda having similar problem. When I'm checking if Abaqus is linked with fortan compiler in the  Abaqus command window, it shows "pass" ( please see the screenshot). However, when I'm trying to run a subroutine it is showing the following error : "Problem during linking". 

Any help will be appreciated.

Every single error, in my case, was related to errors in the codes, but not Abaqus and Fortran linkage. If any of you got some problem with your code, you can send it to me directly and I will check it for you in my free time if i got some. 

I am also having same problem.i knew that there is an error in code .if my code is having too many lines,then how to debug the code.I am using abaqus 6.13-1,intel  composer XE with microsoft visual studio 2013 to link subroutine into abaqus

You could use WRITE command in the form of WRITE(*,6) within your code where you like, then you will have the .log file which will show you the results. However, the general form of using WRITE command is WRITE(*,number) which every NUMBER is dedicated to a specific output file such as .log or massage files.

I am getting problem while compiling my FORTRAN code in abaqus. Here i am giving the details what is did. Can you help me what i have to do to run the subroutine? 

1) Installed abaqus 6.14-1 in windows 10

2) Installed visual studio 2015

3) Installed parallel_studio_xe_2017_update1_setup

4) Finally linked abaqus with C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /E:ON /V:ON /K ""C:\Program Files (x86) \IntelSWTools\ compilers_and_libraries_2017.1.143\windows\bin\ipsxe-comp-vars.bat" intel64 vs2015"

5) I copied this link in abaqus command prompt, abaqus CAE and abaqus verification

Go through this video. Language is different but still you will get an idea. your mistake is that you are adding same path variable to all i.e. ABAQUS CAE, ABAQUS Command and ABAQUS Verification.

In my case, it was because of mismatch in the versions of software's that were installed in my PC.

So instead of submitting the job through ABAQUS GUI, I used to submit the jobs with the following commands....

Abaqus job=input file name(.inp) user=userfile(.for)

Then I am able to see results through Abaqus GUI.

Dear Reza Ghavami ,

Your problem is a compilation problem. I have sometimes faced this type of problems because I used different compilers in different computers; in my case, I had to use extension .f in one computer and .for in the other computer because of the compiler.

Nevertheless, I think that your problem comes from a different side in the code you have shared. Some lines in your code start in column 5, be careful, in fortran your code must be between columns 7 and 72. Check if that is the problem.
