There are cases when data gathered by X is published by Y without mentioning that the source is X

There are cases when X is copying the text written by Y without mentioning that the source is the publication signed by Y (that is plain plagiarism - as in case of the most recent one of the former "mini-stress" from Germany)

There are cases when pictures (not one, but at about 2,500) from a publication are used without the approval of the photographers (some details are at: http://neimportant.forumgratuit.ro/t730-obisnuiti-sa-furam-sau-born-to-steal#65532 )

(a little bit later - when I find the copy of the article - I will give some examples of the so-called "auto-plagiarism")

The real question is: in Your opinion why people try to avoid to mention that their work is not an original one... even if they know that at a moment there will be obvious that... by not mentioning the source... they were stealing the results/products/works of other people?
