I feel 2 consultannts one senior other junior and mininum 3 residents ( one post graduate and rest can b training). Second consultant and PG resident is vital for any adverse condition during surgery.
In the states I encounter different levels of support in my travels.
Primary surgeon, Scrub assistant, and circulator and one first assistant are pretty standard. Often there will be a fellow or resident at a teaching hospital. Many of the private hospitals will have a second assistant available. Also on most cases there is a commercial orthopaedic company representative assisting the circulator with the individual implant and instruments.
