Is it normal if I publish my doctoral thesis into only one journal article (since my doctoral thesis will be data-heavy and theory-light)? Or are doctoral theses expected to be equivalent to 3-4 journal articles?
You must write at least 03 articles . out of 03 articles 01 should be co-authored by your thesis guide. Different universities may have different norms for the article requirement.
As per UGC norms at least two papers should be published in UGC approved journal journal for doctoral thesis along with Plagiarism Check up with less than 10% similarity index..
if your thesis is heavy data oriented....then journals format whom you can send your article decides no of articles...
i would like to share that ..i have send my paper in Indian Journal of Horticulture where according to format we can have 4 tables ...so here no of tables decides your no of articles, i mean 4 tables one article....same is the case for other journals format
normally we make 2 papers from MSc research and 3 Papers from PhD Research...but still how many experiments i have taken in PhD Research decides my no....
In my country for PhD need to have at least 05 articles in approved journals particularly with SCOPUS indexed and for DSc need to have at least 20 articles
I guess you should fulfill your university requirements at least, then it would be a self-decision. Usually, students try to cover their thesis points in publishing articles to give them more acceptance and approving.
i think your data decides your no of journal articles...e.g in Indian Journal of Horticulture...6 data parameters corresponds your single paper....so your thesis decides your no of papers if you have to send your papers in IJOH...respectively for other formats of the journal....
It depends on the policy of your university. At least one journal article is necessary in most of the cases. However, you may consult with your supervisor or university about this.
