I wanted to count the cfu's of Candida from different organs of mice with systemic candidiasis. I usually homogenize the organs immediately after sacrifice and plate the serially diluted homogenized extract. However, this time due to larger number of animals, I was thinking of storing the organs in minus 80 and later thaw them and use it for cfu count as mentioned in this article (Article Candida albicans white and opaque cells exhibit distinct spe...

). Please suggest if this is an appropriate procedure for cfu count or suggest any other alternatives.
