Although the prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) decreased in the last decade worldwide, the number of deaths due to HIV/AIDS and communicable diseases including syphilis, hepatitis, and tuberculosis had dramatically increased in developing countries. Education and behavior are incredibly important factors to prevent these diseases’ spread. This study highlights the range of differences in knowledge, attitude, and behavior of 434 sexually active medical students towards HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Because the surveyed population constitutes the forefront of healthcare providers and was originated from different area of the world, this is the first time a study sought to investigate the behavioral attitude of this group of population irrespective of the three levels of their academic and professional knowledge. Several factors including sociodemographic characteristics, sexual behavior, HIV/AIDS, and STIs related patterns play a key role in medical student attitude and behavior towards people infected with HIV/AIDS and STIs. Our findings add consistent value in prior studies which aimed to stop new infections and also imply further investigations on the management of the studied infections by medical students. The present study arouses much interest among participants and provides evidence of reinforcing medical students’ education on HIV/AIDS and STIs.

An educated cultured person is expected to be dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge & this quest will seek truth and ultimately leads to the noble goals of research for the advantage of all humanity & its life on this earth.

A researcher is not a robot but is a human who ought to have positivity in attitude as well as in behavior. This positivity has to be manifest in high personal quality. Not long time ago, we have seen distinguished scholars with sublime attributes in developed & developing countries.

This situation has changed recently when many academic institutions were invaded by a good number of villains who lack scientific attitudes & display despicable unethical behaviors. The trouble is that the respected institutions are heading to become no more than “bazaar markets” with big empty names & posts.  

Attitudes, behavior and knowledge influence individuals' decisions. It is fundamental in psychical and social science, also in decision making, business management, marketing. Understanding customers, the general public, all the stakeholders is a key to perform a high-impact research, so none of the scientists should neglect behavior science, we are not in an ivory tower. We want to influence and want to attract funds.

You question relates to the idea of an absolute truth.

Experience and wisdom has a tendency to undermine the idea of an absolute truth; that science and knowledge is linear, definite and progressive. Being open to this means that it is important to stop every now and again and ask why are we doing this? Is this the right direction? What are the implications?

In practice the "Science Contributions", you refer to are not only varied but often contradictory. More likely driven by very human aspirations of select groups and individuals rather than some divine path of true knowledge.

Don't take my word for it though, read some of Richard Feynman's reflection on what science is. I could direct you to plenty of philosophers and social scientists, but something tells me you'd prefer a 'proper' physicist!
