The way to go - from the grassroots! Interesting developments towards sustainable/peaceful societies. Research/evidence-based kindness curriculum for preschool classrooms developed by the Center for Healthy Minds at The University of Wisconsin–Madison (USA) led by the founder Richard J. Davidson. Just like we traditionally pay emphasis on reading, writing and arithmetic for kids who start schooling, it is equally, if not more, important to pay attention to developing "Healthy Minds" with a special focus on emotional intelligence (EQ ahead of IQ). How many of us and our educational organisations could visualise the value of such a curriculum?

I think one of the main difficulties in carrying out this curricular approach is the real demand of the labor market. Although sustainability and peace are pending and urgent areas in the global education system -especially after the World War II- we cannot forget the legacy of the French Revolution. If it is about values education for preschool classrooms (as wondered by Wondwosen Tamrat Wolde two comments above), it is possible that the axis of this discussion lies more in change values than in social or moral values. The implementation of workforce productivity through educational institutions at the end of the 18th century leads today to a clear work-line: making education for sustainability and peace an effective link to improve future production and labor competition, in this case of the preschoolers. There is no reason to renounce those goals we considere fair and fit for preschool education as long as the proposals for curriculum are realistic and meet the needs of development in the critical age of learning.
I agree with most of what Fran says. Curriculum has always been a competing ground for many types of content and one of the major loses of the newly evolving curricula copied from the West appears to be in the area of attitude/values which happens to be a major focal area next to knowledge and skills. In my country there's currently a move towards rectifying this failure by introducing value education at all levels
