In what seemed to be a sudden period of time, I have watched people conduct themselves as though they have no concept of how to think critically or even use logic. Propaganda goes unquestioned and alternative views are met with hostility, if not rage. Much of it is based on falsity. Some of it is based on factual information that no longer applies. There seems to be a trend to go back to what we already overcame instead of move forward to continue overcoming problems that remain. Clear and obvious facts are ignored in the name of outrage culture. I want to understand from many directions what has happened to the American people.
Considero que la clave para comprender está problemática está en la educación. Los programas educativos han sacrificado los contenidos en aras de la masificación y la homogeneización desatendiendo las variables culturales. La mal llamada eficiencia terminal, es un indicador cuantitativo que no puede calificar la calidad en la educación y si a eso se suma que el acceso a la educación se va cerrando a las mayorías, ahí tiene una de las causas que provocan lo que menciona.
I do not know, what happened to American people, but I do observe the very same tendency in Central Europe. It is actually NOT the Enlightment. It is just false and simplified image of it. In the Enlightment era, the majority still had a spiritual faith, their approach towards the Truth was actually a religious one, not the death scheme of today's science.
They were in certain kind of admiration of the Truth and the idea of perfection. Today, it is the matter of control of the truth, the capitalization of it. Many believe in the most absurd way, they are to DEFINE the Truth.
The answer is simple; in America, public high school education has collapsed, and along with it, media literacy. Basal skills are not emphasized, which leads to a poorly prepared college student. That poorly educated student becomes a poorly educated adult, and now data science is being used in the name of mass commerce to try to convince that young person of things that are either untrue or at best, partially true. Powerfully effective mass messaging through media tells everyone to buy, buy, buy, and no other reality, such as democracy or civility have any importance anymore. The best minds today work at Google or Bytedance, convincing people to click on TikTok videos so that the ad dollars pour in.
