From the religious standpoint, one can explain that I can forgive after being spiritually transformed by God or the divine (i.e., regeneration in the Christian tradition), and that I should forgive because God or the divine has forgiven me and because true justice is restorative and not retributive. But when secular groups have suffered harm, they typically want retribution, such as the notion that the nation's dead demand vengeance for their blood. So I'm wondering what resources secularism provides to facilitate persons' power to forgive and to motivate them to use that power.

I very much appreciate the video. The video seems to present a purely pragmatic approach to forgiveness, namely, that failing to forgive harms the victim. But suppose the victim doesn't care about harming herself and would prefer retribution even at the expense of self. Many people hold grudges with no perceptible difference on their day-to-day functionality. Do they have an objective moral duty to forgive, namely, a duty to forgive regardless of whether they think so or not?
I defend that the one that does not forgive others tend to live with the problem a lot longer and therefore suffering even when the problem is no longer there.

Regardless of the stand, either religious or secular, elasticity and tolerance are capabilities of materials than rigidity and intolerance. Forgiveness is such a capability for humans and it reflects both elasticity and tolerance , which empower the victim and continues to live fully and freely to the future without affecting string attached past events as leashes. Forgiveness has two main benefits, one to enable maintain positive relations so that future living and coexistence continues smoothly and second, it removes negative emotional and psychological components of cognitions of both sides of the effect.
