I have read that trypan blue interacts with gold in cell toxicity assays, thus producing potentially bad results. However, I fail to find any information on how such an interation looks like - does anyone here know in what way do trypan blue and gold nanoparticles interplay? I am in particular interested in interaction between trypan blue and gold nanoparticles coated with 4-mercapto benzonitrile (MBN), an arenethiol.
