As long as I know, the insect cell don't have transferrin receptor, but they have transferrin. Usually, the iron bounded transferrin need first interact with transferrin receptor, and enter the host cell by endocytosis. Here is the question, how the insect transferrin enter host cell without the help of transferrin receptor? Are there any other receptors can do the same function in insects?
