We have a pulsed dye laser running at 729nm to produce 243nm light for H-atom REMPI. The dye laser is pumped by a 50Hz Nd:YAG with 330mJ@532nm. We are currently using Pyridin 2 as a dye but is lasts only a few days, which is kind of annoying. An alternative would be Styryl 8 which has almost the same efficiency at 729nm as Pyridin 2. I am wondering how the lifetime of this dye compares to Pyridin 2. Previously we used some Rhodamine dye which lived for something like 3 weeks. Even if Styryl 8 only lasts one week this would fine.
