Due to chemical etching, the cladding diameter of the silica fibre decreases with time. How does this reduced cladding diameter affect the temperature sensitivity of an FBG, which is inscribed on the silica fibre?

We believe that, When we etched the FBG to remove the cladding part adequately from the fiber, we pave the way to strengthen the “Evanescent field wave (EFW)”. Once EFW strengthens, the sensitivity of the device increases.
This effect becomes prominent when the reduced diameter is close to the core diameter.

In the above journal, we have mentioned the point in section 4.2. Here the reduced diameter is ~12 microns (core dia ~9 microns).
