When a patent is granted it is cited by subsequent patent publications as part of the 'state of the art' literature review. It doesn't seem that RG has access to the patent ref databases?
ResearchGate may not have direct access to comprehensive patent databases, which could limit its ability to provide thorough references for patents in the context of state-of-the-art literature. Patent databases often require specialized subscriptions or licenses, and their indexing might not be fully integrated into academic networks like ResearchGate. For detailed patent citations, it’s usually best to consult dedicated patent databases such as Google Patents, Espacenet, or the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
ResearchGate (RG) primarily focuses on academic publications, not patents, and doesn't have direct access to patent databases like those managed by the USPTO or EPO. Therefore, patent references might not be automatically integrated into RG profiles. However, researchers can manually upload and link patents to their publications on RG, or cite patents in their articles, but RG itself does not track or include patents in its reference management system. For tracking patent citations, tools like Google Patents or Espacenet are more appropriate.
