Can anyone share their experience of BEI inactivation of viruses, especially FMDV? How to reduce loss of virus during inactivation? Loss is almost 60% at 1mM final concn of BEI, 37C, 20h, pH8.0. For example, if the virus concentration (140S particles) is 12ug/ml before inactivation, it reduces to 4ug/ml after BEI concentration.
Hi Srinivas , it is strongly benefit to use a combination of 1mM BEI and 0.04% formaldehyde that will augment inactivation rate without reduction in 140 S yields as well as safety level of the vaccine

At the time of inactivation, the BEI concentration will be loaded by two installment with the interval of 30 minutes at, during the interval, the material will be in the shaking condition at +4 C

Dear Ehab EI-Nahas, thanks. I was wondering why not much discussion on the procedure you mentioned. Except Simon Barteling who came up with this BEI-FA procedure (US patent US6673349 B2), there is no literature on usage of this method. Hope you are satisfied with this procedure.
