that depends on what you would like to do.  For instance, if you want to determine them alive to see apoptotic corpses, then you could prepare 2% Agar pads. We normally do this for DIC microscopy. It is really fast and cheap. Just prepare the 2 % Agar with  M9 buffer and pipette ~500 ul on a slide. Put a second slide on top to squeeze the agar. In order to immobilize the worms one can use 5 ul Sodiumazide solution (30 nM). You could also buy DAPI containing Fluoromount G solution (SouthernBiotech) when using dead worms in immunostainings.
