De-domesticated species play a key role in trophic rewilding, especially in Europe. These animals are typically ecologically and phenotypically distinct from their domestic progenitors, but are not distinguished taxonomically. When I searched the GBIF for data on domestic or feral species or sub-species the data seemed to be incredibly patchy and didn't reflect the distribution of either domestic forms or de-domesticated forms. Furthermore, I couldn't find any guidance on how to deal with 'domestic' species within wild settings. Any insights into this would be greatly appreciated.
