I m recently investigating the impact of climate change on shorebird population trends, I would like to know what is the impact of fluctuations in variables such as sea surface temperature, global temperature, chlorophyll a, precipitation rates and MEI, DOP, ENSSO, etc. in shorebirds? Thank you very much I am attentive to any comments.
Unfortunately, the climate crisis is taking/will take its toll on many of these birds. In particular, National Audubon has concluded that about 50 species of coastal birds are at high risk if we do little to stem climate change and experience a 3oC rise in average global temperature; an additional 20 species of these birds are at moderate risk. Shore-dwelling species highly at risk include Snow Geese, Lesser scaup, Surf Scoter, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Black-Bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Ruddy Turnstones, Surfbirds, Sanderlings, Dunlins, Western Sandpiper, Short-billed Dowitchers, and Pacific Loon.

You would need to count seabirds and plot against changes in the variables, then use CCA or permanova
Another way is to check the birds species available in the past and at present. So the climate change has extincted some of the birds population. Say for example house sparrows were abundantly available 30-35 years ago which could have been extincted entirely of available in few. Like wise some other birds are seen in variable number if compared in past. This could possibly have happened because of the climate change and land use pattern has changed the habitat of the birds.

Climate change threatens migration patterns that are crucial for the survival of many birds. Migratory birds arrive in the summer to their breeding areas early, by one day, with a temperature rise of 1 degree Celsius.

In the last one century, air temperature increased by about 1 degree Celsius, sea level by about 20 cm, and sea water has become slightly acidic. These changes are going to have impact on life cycle and migratory pattern of shorebirds.
