I performed physical activation of my raw material in an inert atmosphere and I'd be glad to know if the following chemical activation needs necessarily to be performed in such conditions(inert atmosphere and high temperatures)?
Thanks. I'd like to know better about the effect of activating chemically at high temperatures coz maybe it brings more micro porosity or something else like better yiels on prous structure formation during the activation
I worked on a project where we were trying to enhance the mesoporosity of activated carbon by chemical activation with KOH for the removal of natural organic matter. "Effects of oligomerization phenomenon on dissolved organic matter removal kinetics on novel activated carbons."
In a non-inert atmosphere, activated carbon can adsorb CO2 or other gases in the atmosphere which can impact on the pore creation and low temperature results in high tar deposition
