Harmony between Nature and Human Beings

Thanks Rajitha. Some people use the translation as "Unity of Universe and Human".

Relatively, it is easier to understand the concept of "天人调谐" , the "Harmony between Nature and Mankind"  as compared to "天人合一"  ;"Unity of Universe and Human". The difficult part is the understanding of "天 " from Ancient Chinese perspective. Is it Universe, Nature or God? Whether this "天" has personality and intelligence? Physical, Conceptual or Spiritual?

Seems like "transcendence" , in the western esoteric / Hermetic sense. This of course puts it into relation with the concept of the 'monad' or 'oneness'. This concept in the western esoteric tradition has been often formulated as triadic, or being tripartite in function and form; which may speak to the mutual presence of the 'physical', 'mental', and 'spiritual' that you mention. Very interesting to see how the two concepts correlate historically. What brings this to your attention? Is this a commonly used concept in China?

Hi Ryan, thanks for the comment. Yes, in Chinese culture, the concept of "天 " is rather ambiguous. It could refer to different thing (God, heaven, sky, nature etc) in different perspectives. To understand "天人合一" , we need to know the meaning of "天 " first.

it is better to understand  as nature because it includes all. It is the foundation of all.  According to the Chinese philosophy too, you know that it gives a great emphasis on nature.

It seems to have three school of thoughts:

"天" = nature

"天" = ethics and moral principals

"天" = include nature, ethics and moral principals
