I have a question about a DSC thermogram, obtained from an analysis conducted with heating and cooling at 10°C/min, after deleting the thermal history.
I'm sure that the main component is polypropylene (I did FTIR analysis which give this result) but I don't understand why there are these overlapping peaks during heating and why on cooling I get a peak at such a low temperature (92°C).
Assuming it is a blend, what other components could there be?

The compositional heterogeneity and crystal morphology play an important role in creation of multiple melting peak in PP.
Dear all, I think it is a low MW PP with a broad MWD. Short chains play a similar role to a plasticizer. My Regards
I THINK THE SAME ABOUT MY COLLEGUEAS, AND ABOUT THE PEAK IN COOLING PROCESS IS FOR CRYSTALLIZATION PROCESS OF YOUR MATERIALS. I AM NOT SURE IF IS HOMOPOLYMER OF PP, DUE THE MELTING OF PP ON DEPENDING OT MW AND STEREOCHEMISTRY (ATACTIC, ISOTACTIC) MUST BE AROUND 160-175ºC, AND THE MELTING PROCESS IN YOUR MATERIAL IS BELOW 150ºC, SO MAY BE IS A COPOLYMER.
