Dear Respectable Professors and Researchers,
I am working on a thesis where I will use 3 scales (Generic Job Satisfaction Scale, Work Identity Scale, and Passion Scale). I need your help on how individual scores on these scales may be interpreted. I had been reading articles and found that 3 ways are mainly employed in interpreting individual scores:
a. Assigning descriptive values to each point (expressed in ranges) in the Likert Scale and then interpreting scores accordingly (ex. scores that fall in the range 1.00 - 1.80 mean VERY LOW, those within 1.80 - 2.60 mean LOW, etc.)
b. Finding the lowest and highest possible scores on the scale and then assigning the midpoint. Scores above the midpoint are considered high while those below are considered low on the construct being measured.
c. Computing for the mean and SD of the scores in the sample. Scores at least 1 SD higher than the mean are interpreted as high on the construct being measured while scores at least 1 SD lower means low on the construct being measured.
As published authors and researchers, may I know which method for you is more appropriate?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Charlo
