I have asked this question in various forum. We know the unique attributes and the roles and responsibilities of architects and designers in various industries. How does their thought processes and conceptualization differ?
The body of knowledge or the nature of Architectural study is design. This nature differs the nature of analytical thinking and synthesis thinking. Both the architecture and design activity standpoint is to achieve human-centered problem solving through synthesis activity. Therefore, in my understanding architectural thinking is at the same time is a design thinking. As Rivka Oxman (1999) described that design is thinking processes employing both visual and conceptual knowledge, this is exactly how architects do.
