I am working on printing of P3HT:PCBM film for solar cell application. I want to check whether the active layer will work or not, without making device. I am doing characterization like UV-Vis abs, AFM and thickness. Any other method which tell about the performance of active layer.

Maybe you could try another characterization such as time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) spectroscopy to determine the charge separation lifetime and also kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) (non-contact mode) to further understand the phase separation of P3HT:PCBM (under dark and light condition) based on the shift of surface potential. Hope it could help.

You can also use transient absorption spectroscopy to look into the photogeneration and recombination dynamics in thin film. Correlating the results with TRPL you can have the idea about the relative amount of charges available to collect at the electrodes.
