How do you approach an editor of a journal if you find a mistake in your accepted but not published article?
You can email the editor and tell him about the mistake, and explain if the article needs a revision or you should withdraw it from the journal.
There are some journals declare that an article can not be withdraw after acceptance.

Inform the editor and leave the ball in his/her court...
Inform the editor, they will accept the changes, maybe you can Publish it in the next issue if they are pushing the paper to go through the review process again, i dont see that as a major issue
