Is there any role of HCQ in the management of Covid patients?
It is virtually impossible to test the prophylactic effect of HCQ (and of any other anti-Covid treatment). The problem is that of all people in the trial who would get administered with HCQ, very few would be contaminated during a reasonable trial period. Of those contaminated, very few would show symptoms. And of those showing symptoms, very few would need intensive care. Overall, the difference between the control and treated groups would be elusive (unless hundreds of thousands volunteers are enrolled).
