As a lecturer in computer science my workload allocation tells me that I should have an easy life with some breaks, standard working hours, and plenty of time for research.

But reality is very different...

I guess this is a phenomenon that is very common. My current solution is to start early and finish late and also often work at evenings and weekends as I do not find the time during normal working hours to work on my research. It helps being married to a lecturer who often shares these evening and weekend activities.

What is your solution?
