How do the properties of nanoparticles differ from the bulk particles?

Nanoparticles have smaller size < 100 nm. The main difference between bulk and nanoparticles are the higher value of surface to volume ratio in nanoparticles. This increase in surface area changes various physics properties of nanomaterial. such as optical and electrical properties etc.
