I agree with Qurratulann just like good news is no news in relation to Pakistan for the International Media. This is agenda setting too. They shun all the positive stories related to Pakistan and overall broadcast only 2 or 3 percent.

The media practitioners use a number of agenda setting techniques to build the agenda of the masses, and then through the agenda of the masses they ultimately control and influence the state policies and state agenda.

I think Milan Jawed has raised a very important practical question with respect to the joint deployment of media communication triplet theories like agenda setting, framing, and priming which have been prudently advanced by a handful of well known media scholars to date.

It is a brilliant agenda-setting assertion that the media do not tell people what to think but what to think about. The world is a wash with news audiences who are addicted to news broadcasts or publications not withstanding fake news.

Agenda - setting theory blends very well with framing and priming theories almost. Both the framing and priming theories are the offspring of agenda-setting theory. As a result, all the three theories can sit together almost indistinguishably from one another, so to say.

In this regards, the following specific observations can be made with respect to how the three communication theories are simultaneously deployed by the media practitioners from time to time.

To begin with most important news items always attract the relevance and interpretations of all the three theories at the same time or simultaneously. To clarify the point, agenda-setting aims to provoke public awareness of the need to discuss a news agenda, and so the public begins to discuss or debate the news released by the media.

At the same time, the news is framed or presented in such a captivating manner (eye catching or ear catching taste) that hooks the audience to read on, listen to, or watch it with interest. News framing is done at the expense of all other public concerns in the problems.

In addition, news framing which is the art and science of news coverage or presentation, priming works best in news breaking or political news in particular. And yet news framing applies to all manner of news presentation to attract or hook the audience to the stories.

So news framing can be improved or perfected depending on the skills, experience, technology, incentives, environment, and motivations required for their (outputs) optimization News priming is very selective and can be exclusive, very competitive, innovative, or talent oriented.

In all these, the theories of agenda-setting (the mother of the two related theories), framing, and priming provide an excellent mix if used in combination to produce a news item for any media house or news outlet. The media practitioners can exploit these opportunities for effective and efficient performance (outputs).
