Dear colleagues!

I am wondering if there is any method to properly treat the transition from absorption by gap states (Urbach tail) to excitonic or band-to-band.

When modelling all contributions to the absorption (see, for example ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES 7(24) · JUNE 2015), it is clear that the spectrum without Urbach tail does not fit my data well.

Including the Urbach tail however distorts the spectrum of absorption at higher energies. If I cut it off (since the Urbach tail is observed below band-gap) it leads to a discontinuous spectrum.

Can someone comment on how to "smoothen" it out?

Your help and suggestions are very much appreciated!

Yours,

Chris
