How do I simulate Adhesive Joints in ANSYS Explicit Dynamics?

I am doing a research on adhesive joint by modelling a split-hopkinson pressure bar on ANSYS , the specimen is an adhesive (epoxy) with a thickness of 5 mm.

what i wanted to do is gluing 2 aluminum alloy bar with a 5mm epoxy , do i just make a 5mm geometry in between 2 aluminum bars?
