Your rectify "Verification" by "Validating" the requirement specs.

Verification -- assures that an entity, system, or whatever it be, meets, accomplishes or satisfies what the specs states must (shall) be done.

Validation -- rectifies the verification by assuring that, what was done, met, accomplished or satisfied was the right and correct thing to have been done.
