My student and I have been trying to produce free-standing graphene oxide membranes by dynamically spin-coating GO solution onto a glass substrate, but so far we have only been able to produce a thin haze on the surface. The film fell apart when we tried to remove it from the glass substrate with a razor blade. How do we produce thicker membranes? Do we just need to keep adding more GO for a longer time? Do the layers continue to stack on top of each other with each drop that is added?

Also, how do we remove the membranes from the glass substrates?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.
