I collected some data during my PhD for P L2,3 XANES, but the raw data was step like, meaning I could not import this quality of data into Athena to analyse. It has been a few years since I have looked at this data and wondered if anyone in the community knew of a way I could "clean" this data up?
Re-running the samples was not and is not an option, as the beamline used, apparently, could not resolve the data any further.
An example of some data is provided.

please have a look at your data.
You have only 3 significant digits and the span of the data is going from 593*10-8 to 643*10-8.
So you only have 50 different numbers for mapping your data (y-axis).
To my opinion there is no chance to get more information.
Furthermore the pattern in front of the absorption edge looks quite 'strange' to me.
There must have been something gone wrong in the sample preparation, the data acquisition as well as in the storing of your data.
Sorry for that quite 'discouraging' comment.
However, I must admit, that spectroscopy around P L2,3 edge is a very challenging task...

Gerhard Martens thank you for taking a look at the data and providing your answer. To be honest it was very much a long shot, where i just wanted to double check the data again. I opened up some other data that "looked" smoother in excel but in Athena looked just as terrible. I think this data is a write off, sadly.
