If I have an image of Gel with different bands of DNA and I want to know exactly their molecular size in relation to the Ldder bands using a computer tool or online website not semi-log paper.
It will be extremely difficult (or near impossible) to know the 'exact' size of a band on a gel just by comparing them to the Ladder bands (size markers). If you want to know their 'exact' sizes, you may need to sequence it, and count the base number. The Ladder bands will only give you an 'approximate' size of a DNA fragment on a gel.
Well, I don't know about good soft wares that could help you, but I have tried using gelanalyzer and it worked for me. Makes it easier for you to know the size compared to the ladder
I agree. If you need the exact size is best sequence. On the other hand, there is a software that could help you if you do not need much exacted. This is Gel Pro Analyzer
