How do I enter scored EPIC data into genalex for analysis?

I have scored alleles A A, B B, or A B. Do I convert this to a numerical value i.e. 1 1, 2 2, 1 2 before analysis in genalex?

I usally convert data in numeric form (2 digits each allele). Then I prepare a file in GENEPOP format and import it in Genalex.
