How do I draw the polarized character matrix for the given data?

Each character state needs to be denoted as 0 and 1. However, spore colour and asomata colour have more than one derived character state (yellow, black ; black, brown respectively). How do I denote them as 1 or 2 when drawing the polarized character matrix?
