I am currently working on designing a multi-band rectangular patch antenna and i am using a coaxial cable for feeding. I have attempted to achieve circular polarization by truncating the corners of the patch, but unfortunately, it has not worked as expected.
Could you kindly suggest methods or approaches that could help me successfully achieve circular polarization in this design?
Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Two separate coaxial feeds with a 90° phase difference can be applied at two perpendicular points of the rectangular patch. Additionally, CP can be achieved by incorporating L-shaped, cross, or circular slots into the patch. Modifying the patch shape, such as rounding the corners or narrowing one side, can enhance CP performance.
Cem Güler Thank you for your suggestions! I did attempt to achieve circular polarization by truncating the patch corners, but the expected results were not obtained. I am now considering alternative approaches, including dual-feed excitation with a 90° phase shift. Your mention of incorporating L-shaped, cross, or circular slots is particularly interesting. Have you worked with these techniques before? I would appreciate any recommendations on optimizing the slot dimensions and positions to enhance CP performance
Truncating the corners works if it is done correctly. You need to find out what you did wrong and correct it. Is the feed in the right place? Did you cut the right amount off the corners? All of the other methods also will not work if you don't get things right.
