Hi, I am a student of Engineering at Robert Gordon University based in Scotland, Aberdeen. I am hoping that i could ask for some guidance on methods for managing the input/output of an energy source in a smart and efficient manner.

For example: A coal mining business, they take in a ton of coal a day, however their demand from clients in total is 1.5 tons a day. I'm trying to create a system that could measure and remember what suppliers have had how much input, what clients are lagging behind on their supplies and a logistical web say for a client who wants a specific type of coal from a specific mine.

This is for my personal project and what I am hoping people could help with is what methods/technologies are out there that could bring this to fruition. Is it the case that excel is the best option? With manual inputs and equations etc?
