Does anyone know if there is or was (limnological) research about spring habitats on the Cape Verde Islands? I cannot found English-written papers about fauna (Invertebrates) and/or environmental conditions.
As far I remember there were several publications by M. Geitshardt (Wiesbaden) on terrestrial invertebrates (mostly Coleoptera; e.g. "Zur Käferfauna der Kapverdischen Inseln") of Cabo Verde. But I am not aware of any published information devoted to aquatic invertebrates.
Another great source is available here: http://www.gbv.de/dms/tib-ub-hannover/162932405.pdf (Ergebnisse des 1. Symposiums "Fauna und Flora der Kapverdischen Inseln"), with some data on marine molluscs.
there are a few publications focussing on the groundwater fauna and/or specific taxa groups. And some studies briefly compare the fauna of the Canary Islands with Cape Verde.
Here are a few results that might help you a bit:

If your search for Cape Verde doesn't yield enough results, try searching for the Portuguese name instead (Cabo Verde) or for the names of individual islands (Santo Antão, São Vicente, Santa Luzia, São Nicolau, Sal, Boa Vista, Maio, Santiago, Fogo, Brava).
Try to contact the second author of the following paper. He may know more:

There are some papers on invertebrates of springs and humid sites of the Cape Verde Islands, published by Portuguese researchers (e.g. on Mollusca and Odonata), mostly on Santiago Island. I have some of these publications, but several of them only in paper, not in pdf. I can send you a detailed list of such pubs if you want.
Maybe you search for Dr. Isildo Gomes and Samuel Gomes contact. These two researchers from the Cabo Verde National Institute for Agrarian Development (INIDA) have been working a long time on terrestrial plants and invertebrates.

I'm in Cape verde, Santo Antão island to study water from springs and diatoms. Dis you have somo work on groundwater characterization or somo thing related?
