Hi all,
Am working on a biocathode MEC(microbial electrolysis cell). To close my circuit, i have connected my cathode in series to a 10Ohm resistance and to the negative pole of a power supply and then from the positive pole of the power supply to the anode. Voltage in different points and current of the system are monitoring and recording by a multichannel multimeter in my whole system. to be able to record anodic and cathodic voltage, i have inserted two commercial Ag/AgCl reference electrode, RE-5B, Basi, in each of the chambers and connect one channel of my multimeter to anode and its refence electode, and another channel of multimeter to cathode and its reference electrode as well. the problem is the data which is recorded now, for me, i thought that difference between anode and cathode voltage(the latter which is recorded against reference electrode) should be equal to MEC voltage(applied voltage of power supply), but data is not logic. Would you kindly give me your hints if am wrong in any part.
Thanks
