I’m new to quantitative research and I have to teach it to students in the Senior High School. How can I teach them to formulate questions better? The question above is a sample question that one of my students asked me. They are trying to compare two stores‘s performance based on certain qualifications. They would like to find out which store is preferred most by patrons using at least three indicators/variables.

A very good way to do comparisons will be to measure the relative efficiency of your stores viz a viz the indicators you have already pre-determined. A good way to do this would be to employ the Data Envelopment Analysis method. Its a very well known and efficient linear programming method very useful in operations research as well. You can do a little research on DEA but i have attached a good document by Micheal Trick of the Carnegie Mellon University for you. Hope you find it helpful.
