I am trying to validate few RANS models like k-epsilon and k-omega model in openFoam. As far as I know, these are high Re models and needs to be used with wallFunctions to model the boundary layer near the wall in a turbulent flow. I am trying to simulate flow past a cylinder at Re=3900. At this Reynold's number wake is turbulent but boundary layer undergoes laminar separation. Can somebody suggest me any way to calculate yPlus value apriori at the wall and how to apply wallFunctions to correctly resolve the laminar separation of Boundary Layer as well as correctly predict the turbulent wake. As I have tested, applying wallFunction all around the cylinder makes the boundary layer turbulent and delays the separation.
