I believe COVID-19 pandemic will affect social scientists’ productivity during this outbreak. Because individuals are at home and surely their concern is not participating in a research/survey. Researchers may also be reluctant to conduct a study in this period. In this situation, lots of sub-questions may be discussed:
- How social scientists will collect data next year?
- Do you think the online survey method will be the prominent approach to collect data?
- Will the number of social sciences research decrease?
... etc.
Pandemic caused social changes in our lives and i believe it will effect the academic life as well. Depends on the research, collecting data online as quantitative method is very common in social sciences already. Due to pandemic, the amount of use of online survey will increase. As we all know, we determine the method depends on the research subject. So, if qualitative method is required to use in the research, that would come up with some risks regarding to health of the researcher in the current situation. Because of that, i think the number of qualitative researches could decrease for the nearer future.

I think that the research subjects on COVID-19 are raw and priority subjects, the number of researches will be increased in the following fields: social and psychological sciences economic Sciences medical and pharmaceutical sciences environmental sciences and sustainable development
Yeah for socialists, and human sciences researchers,this pandemic affects their projects and progression since they are quarantined at home.
I think the qualitative studies will double or even triple since the field experiment is limited thnks to the current situation. Especially, the backward cases will be the main unit of analysis...

Preparing for social science research is a great task, it will be of immense help in coming days
It's a global crisis and social researcher is just a part of it. The researcher can use themselves in different ways and it would be better to engage themselves to focus more on current crisis in their context. Hope mixed method study in next year will be more preferable than large scale survey. Online survey can be done also but qualitative issues and evidence based research will be more preferable. Actually no way to decrease the number of research work rather Corona will create many new areas for research and of course funding might be the only issue in future due to extreme economic crisis.
Just tried to answer according to your dimensions. As a researcher we have to take more risk to make a better world. We have to work even in crisis, the ideas can not be locked down even in tied down situation of global pandemic.
Covid-19 already made our real life into an online life. People are not even trusting their friends and colleagues. Social distancing is also going to create distance among people.
I don't think that it will affect, rather it will increase the role of social sciences during such crises.
