if yes, then how is it possible? why ceramics' brittleness explained for dislocation immobility in terms of differently-charged ions do not hold here?
can geopolymers be as ductile as their organic counterparts at sufficiently high temperature?
Dear Sumit,
geopolymers aren‘t brittle like ceramics because reaction occurs at room temperature or at less than 100°C. Ceramic process occurs at 1240°C for example for gres porcelanate .
Geopolymers remain rigid and fragile system so never ductile because , as correctly explained by Mr. Bashir in the previous answer , their covalent bonding .
Of course if you create a fiber composite based on Geopolymer binder , cured at forced temperature, some more flexibility could be reached (by the way never comparable to metals).
