How can you recover BPB after release of amino acid from Ni Schiff base complexation?

Many papers say they recovered the initial BPB (S)-2-[N-(N′-benzylprolyl)amino]benzophenone ligand after getting their amino acid from the Ni (II) Schiff base complexation, but I can't find anywhere that says how to do this.
