I ve checked them both thoroughly. Unfortunately all the discussions had atomic electronegativity and their electron affinities and none explained the overall electronegativity of the whole system

In some fields the affinity of one whole material to lose and gain electron is the center of interest

Dear Gabris Mahamid, as I have already told, it is via a charge (neat or partial) neutralization. Adsorption most likely using a surfactant or a neutral polymer (formation of a coat). This is if you want to go deeper well studied and used in flocculants applications. Redox reaction are used since depending on the situation, electrons exchange (give or take) to reach neutrality. How can we theoretically then guess what functional groups and functionalities can have high electronegativity rather than just relying on the elements ?

Dear Gabris Mahamid personally I'm only familiar with electronegativity of atoms or functional groups ("group electronegativity"). In my understanding materials / nanomaterials are neutral, but I'm not a solid-state chemist. Perhaps the following article might give you some answers to your question:

Dear Gabris Mahamid, electronegativity originates from the elements affinity to bonding electrons. The more electronegative element displaces the electrons forming the bond towards itself, aquiring thus a partial negative charge, and the other one a partial positive charge. This leads to the birth of dipole moments. If we look at the bulk structure, the molecules will try to find the ideal arrengements (allignement) to put opposite moments in interactions to neutralize their partial charges, hence intermolecular interactions are built up by the four known mechanisms: Keesom, Debye, London, and H-bonding.
